They say American exceptionalism is dead.

Bunk!

Williams Will...

Williams Will

We believe in what “Rosie the Riveter” stood for -and that what this World War II poster promised is still true of America today- that “We [still] can do it!” Under our roof dozens of “Rosies” prove it daily at CAD stations and 5-axis machines, in precision assembly areas and boardrooms, on loading docks and at QA stations.

We started the company back in 1963 and still believe that hard work, straight talk, and never breaking a promise to a customer means something. This and our “we-can-do-it spirit” have earned us an enviable reputation: “…when others can’t or won’t… Williams will!”

Whether it’s funding proof-of-concept prototypes ourselves or building a handful parts when our military needs them to extend the life of aging equipment they still depend on—our company believes in loyalty to customers. Doing what’s right is the only way we know to do business.

My name is Kyemba…

(But you can call me Rosie!)

Williams Will

It’s hard to believe… but with business competition the way it is these days, companies are actually hiring consultants just to teach them how to keep their customers happy. We don’t have that problem here. From my first day on the job I saw that we keep our promises… and how we over-deliver. That’s why I see nothing but a bright future for us and for America—because there are still companies like ours .

KYEMBA McMILLIAN — Production & Planning Manager / 8 years

Kyemba came to WilliamsRDM responding to an opening for a production planner. He wanted experience in supply chain management and he got it, moving up the ladder to the position he now holds. Today, he oversees the company’s inventory management, shipping, and receiving—a job he finds rewarding because he gets to see every step of the project lifecycle, from contract to on-time delivery.

My name is
Richard…

(But you can call me Rosie!)

Williams Will

I dare you to find another company our size that can do all we do—let alone do it as well. Have you seen the range of design and manufacturing we do? It ought to tell you something about the kind of engineering talent we have, equipment we operate, and quality processes we have in place. This is what makes it possible for us to do so much in house. What you see here… could only happen in America!

RICHARD ANTHONY — Production Engineer / 27 years

Richard has played a pivotal role in the growth of WilliamsRDM, designing and hand-machining both our development protoypes and some of the specialized equipment it takes to later manufacture them. He may not hold a formal engineering degree, but Richard holds several patents and has had part in the design and manufacture of some of our client’s most valued, mission-critical products.

My name is
Yenifer…

(But you can call me Rosie!)

Williams Will

I believe in this country and in what we do here to preserve this way of life. What we do is important, but what’s even more important to me is that we’re a team of hard working people who see to it that we keep our promises. I’m proud that the products we design keep people safer—and that’s people from military pilots to ordinary families like mine.

YENIFER BRUNET — Accountant / 10 years

Yenifer came to the company as a 17-year old high school intern. Although she had originally planned a career as a nurse, Yenifer discovered from her earliest days with the company that business and finance fascinated her. After hiring on full time, her supervisors saw potential in her and encouraged her to pursue a degree in accounting, which she accomplished while still working here full time. Today, she handles all accounts payable and a number of other related tasks and finds her work interesting and rewarding.

My name is
Catherine…

(But you can call me Rosie!)

Williams Will

I bring the raw materials and parts we use in through those big roll-up doors and it makes me feel good to see a quality product we’ve made from all that go back out the door to our customers who are expecting it. It’s rewarding to know that it’ll be getting to them by the delivery date promised.

CATHERINE MICHAEL — Shipping & Receiving Coordinator / 7 years

This forklift-driving Rosie came to our part of the country in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and eventually found her way here. What she has to say about the company has a lot to do with the respect she has for the work ethic and character of her fellow workers—that and her deep admiration for the way the company “gives back” to the community through the WPI Firefighter’s Fund. She’s knowledgeable about this charitable work and is quick to talk about the hundreds of thousands given to the families of fallen and injured firefighters, and what this help means to the recipients.

My name is
Andrew…

(But you can call me Rosie!)

Williams Will

Nothing made offshore could begin to match the quality of what we make here for our warfighters and oil field workers. You know that motto of ours, Williams Will? Well, I can tell you that we’ve lived it before we ever made it a company slogan. It’s always been the way we do things. Our customers know that we will get it done! We will make it happen! They’ll receive it on time and on budget. To me, WilliamsRDM is the definition of what American pride is.

ANDREW LIMOGES — Director of Operations & Facilities / 12 years

Andrew started at Williams at the bottom rung of the maintenance ladder and grew into various supervisory roles over the years. He saw that, if you were a self starter and put in the effort, the opportunities were limitless. He believes deeply in the company’s values and the importance of its mission.

My name is
Craig…

(But you can call me Rosie!)

Williams Will

One of the things I appreciate most about our company—something driven by Della [Williams] herself—is the tenacity. In all the years I’ve been here, the thing I’m most proud of is that if we choose to start something, we always finish it. We do what we promised and we do it right.

CRAIG WALTERS — Vice President / 31 years

Craig started working part time at WilliamsRDM his junior year in high school and moved up through the ranks to become the company’s VP. He’s always enjoyed collaborating with the array of engineers on staff, each of them bringing a different skill set and talent to the table. Although he is heavily involved in strategic planning now, he still tries to spend half his time doing design.

For fifty years WilliamsRDM has been an engine of ingenuity and can-do spirit in the heart of Fort Worth, Texas. Over the years WilliamsRDM has served defense, energy, and fire suppression, and created innovative, reliable solutions for Fortune 500 giants like Lockeed Martin and Halliburton. We continue to serve these industries and to expand the product offerings we design for them.

Defense

Defense

Defense

We believe in America and the military that defends our freedom. Over the years we have developed and manufactured cost-effective, innovative, and dependable connectors, adapters, cable assemblies, voltage detectors, and test sets for military aircraft. From the F-111 and F-15 in the 1960s, to contemporary state-of-the-art platforms such as the F-22 and F-35, we have continually pioneered advances in aircraft technology and warfighter safety. Our longevity, affordability, and reliability have forged thriving relationships with industry giants such as Lockheed Martin, The Boeing Company, and Northrop Grumman. These industry giants trust WilliamsRDM to design, engineer, and manufacture high quality, products for them and value our willingness to serve as a diminishing manufacturing source (DMS) for the equipment aircraft maintainers need to get the vital operational information they need. NSN Approved List , Products PDFs

Fire Suppression

Fire Suppression

Fire Suppression

For most of its history WilliamsRDM has proven that you don’t have to be big, to do big things—even big things that might, at first glance, seem small. Among the many innovative products we’ve developed over the years, none makes us more proud than StoveTop FireStop®,  a deceptively simple, ingenious little product we have manufactured and improved since 1972. Inspired by the story of a child who was tragically burned by a kitchen grease fire, the company set about designing a solution that would deploy automatically to put out cooktop fires. Today, StoveTop FireStop units now keep families safe across North America.

Since Della Williams and husband Bob started the company back in 1963 we’ve proven time and again that you don’t have to be big to do big things. Our belief in hard work, straight talk, and a do-or-die commitment to never break a promise to a customer has—over five decades—enabled WilliamsRDM to weather economic ups and downs, political tugs-of-war and stiff competition. The company is still family-owned, privately held, with Della Williams at the helm as CEO.

  • We Believed We Could… And We Did!

We Believed We Could… And We Did!

Ours is the kind of American success story that many are quick to write off these days—an American story as unique as the free enterprise system that put us here. The company was founded by Bob and Della Williams in 1963.

Bob was a true engineering genius whose designs would set the standard for innovation and invention that the company upholds to this day.  Della was the businesswoman who did it all: front and back office operations, sales calls, even machine operation and assembly.

The two shared a set of values that enabled the company to weather decades of economic ups and downs, political tugs-of-war, and fierce competition—hard work, straight talk, and a do-or-die commitment to never break a promise to a customer.

  • The Back Story

    The Back Story

On December 7, 1941, Japan staged a sneak attack on the US Naval Base at Pearl Harbor and, overnight, America found itself at war with three formidable and distant adversaries in Europe and the Pacific-Germany, Italy, and Japan.

At the time, America had an army not much bigger than Holland’s and no defense industry to speak of in the isolationist aftermath of “The War to End All Wars” (WWI).

So, in 1940, as France was collapsing under the withering power of the Nazi blitzkrieg and Great Britain was looming as the next target in their crosshairs, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt called GM President, Bill Knudsen asking his advice on transitioning America’s peacetime industries to making engines of war.

Knudsen, one of the original gathers of mass production, persuaded Roosevelt that Detroit’s auto industry could lead that effort and, with the cooperation of others, create an “Arsenal of Democracy” – Weapons produced in such quantities as had never been imagined before.

  • Four weeks after those bombs fell on Pearl Harbor, Knudsen met with other titans of the car industry to form an Automotive Council for War Production. Together, the group outlined a blueprint for production that would ultimately produce 75 percent of all the aircraft engines, one-third of the machine guns, two-fifths of the tanks, and 100 percent of the trucks and other motor vehicles America would use during its participation in the war.

To produce that “Arsenal of Democracy,” American industry performed what is to this day considered miracles of mass production. Think of it: In 1941 the first Liberty ship left dry dock after 150 days of construction. It was 41-foot-long and made of 250,000 parts that weighed more than 14,000,000 pounds. As Nazi U-Boats continued to sink these ships faster that they could be built, US shipyards began a competition to see just how fast these cargo ships could be replaced. Little more than a year after that first Liberty Ship was launched, a shipyard in Richmond, California took the lead, building one in just 4 days, 15 hours, and 29 minutes.

The speed and scope of this production ramp-up was unprecedented. Over the course of the four years of America’s participation in the war, 2,741 Liberty ships were constructed and, incredibly, by 1944, American factories were producing one ship a day… and a plane every five minutes.

Therefore, if history can shine a light on what our country is capable of, it’s this: that the rumors of America’s demise are greatly exaggerated; that American exceptionalism is alive and well; and that we have the choice to either believe the lies and allow them to become self-fulfilling prophesies, or to live out the truth—that America is as President Reagan said: “A city on a hill… the last best hope of man on earth.”

  • Rosie’s Story

    Rosie’s Story
    We Can Do It!

The name “Rosie the Riveter” was ingrained in the American psyche by the 1942 hit song of the same name. The song portrayed “Rosie” as a tireless assembly line worker doing her “bit” for the war effort. Only later did it become associated with the image of the bicep-flexing female factory worker on the “We Can Do It” poster commissioned by the Westinghouse Company.

The real-life inspiration for the song was a night shift worker building F4U Corsair fighter planes— one Rosalind Walter. But the “Rosie” most closely associated with the heroine of the song was Rose Monroe, a riveter building B-29 and B-24 bombers in Ford’s Willow Run Assembly Plant. As women began accepting that they could do a “man’s job” and do it well, millions of women from across the country responded, leaving ironing boards and mixers behind to enter the workforce and the war effort. In October of 2000, the Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home Front National Historical Park was opened in Richmond, California, site of four Kaiser shipyards, where thousands of “Rosies” from around the country worked.

Fighting for the Firefighters

The WPI Firefighters’ Fund was founded by Della Williams in 1999 to provide assistance to firefighters’ families in the immediate aftermath of a loss or injury before benefits kick in. The fund also assists volunteer fire departments—often underfunded—when they have equipment needs. The Fund is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit entity with no paid staff. All Firefighters’ Fund outreach efforts are conducted by volunteers and key employees of WilliamsRDM.

Since its inception, the WPI Firefighters’ Fund has provided over $1,000,000 in the form of grants to fire departments, injured firefighters, and families of injured or fallen firefighters.
